Story

About this place

Mount Whaleback, near Newman, was Stan Hilditch’s deposit, developed by Mount Newman Mining, with the first ore in 1969 and a railway to Nelson Point at Port Hedland. It is not a Hancock or Hamersley Iron mine. The 2013 photograph is the terraced pit where the mountain stood. Do not pair it with the live Tom Price pin as if they were one story.
