Echidna Maps is a community-driven map for explorers and history lovers to share and discover the past beneath their feet — built simply, with respect for the places and stories that shaped us.
Content Quality Standards
Do:
• Be as accurate as you can — check facts and use real GPS locations.
• Tell the story: what was this place, and why does it matter?
• Add context, dates (even rough ones), and any personal memories that help others understand.
• Use clear photos and useful tags so people can find it easily.
Don’t:
• Post vague or empty descriptions.
• Use wrong or random locations or dates.
• Upload blurry, unrelated, or duplicate photos.
• Add businesses or places with no historical value.
Respectful Community Behavior
Do:
• Be respectful and friendly — we’re all here to learn and share.
• Assume good intentions and offer help or corrections politely.
• Thank others for their contributions.
• Use the edit suggestion feature to improve posts together.
Don’t:
• Attack, harass, or discriminate against anyone.
• Post spam, ads, or promote yourself.
• Troll, spread false info, or take credit for others’ work.
Legal & Safety Requirements
Do:
• Respect property and privacy — no trespassing or posting private info.
• Mark sites correctly (public, paid, permission required, or private).
• Share only photos or videos you own, and credit others when needed.
• Mention if a place is unsafe or has hazards.
Don’t:
• Upload anything illegal, stolen, or copied from others.
• Post private addresses or photos of people without consent.
• Share violent, hateful, or adult content.
Enforcement
Violations may lead to:
• Content being edited or removed
• Temporary account suspension
• Permanent removal for serious or repeated issues
