Story
About this place
Mount Goldsworthy, not Tom Price, shipped the first Pilbara iron ore. Goldsworthy Mining’s first export cargo left Finucane Island, Port Hedland, on 26 June 1966. Hamersley Iron’s Dampier loading came later that year and is already a live pin. This faded 1963 photograph is the ironstone range still intact, with a camp shed and tracks at its foot. The main pit was later dug through the hill behind this view. Date and authorship are the uploader’s claim on Commons.
